Biography

Christopher LINGLE earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Georgia (1977) & has been employed at universities in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America & USA.
He is a passionate supporter of human creativity & volunteer actions that lead to social harmony. To this end, he travels relentlessly around the globe to make presentations on the merits of public policy.
Currently, he is Visiting Professor of Economics at Universidad Francisco Marroquín in Guatemala (from 1998), Adjunct Scholar at Centre for Independent Studies (Sydney), Research Scholar at Centre for Civil Society (New Delhi), & Member of Academic Advisory Council of Globalization Institute (Brussels).
Dr. LINGLE’s research interests are in the areas of Political Economy & International Economics with a focus on emerging market economies & public policy reform in East & Central Europe, East Asia, Latin America, & Southern Africa.
His work has appeared as chapters in books, international media, & scholarly journals, including American Economic Review, Foreign Affairs, Journal for Studies in Economics & Econometrics, Kyklos, & Pacific Review.
Books: "Singapore’s Authoritarian Capitalism: Asian Values, Free Market Illusions, & Political Dependency" (1996) & "The Rise & Decline of the ‘Asian Century’: False Starts on the Road to the ‘Global Millennium’" (May 1997 -- This book is widely acknowledged as anticipating the 1997 East Asian economic crisis.)
