Biography
Jule Anne Henstenburg received a B.S. in Nutrition Science from Pennsylvania State University in 1982 and an M.S. in Nutritional Biochemistry from Cornell University in 1985. Early in her career, she worked in pharmacology research at Cornell’s College of Veterinary Medicine and in clinical research at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After obtaining her Registered Dietitian (R.D.) credential, she worked as a clinician at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she specialized in treatment of inborn errors of metabolism and was Manager of Outpatient Nutrition. She has also been a consultant for Pennsylvania State Early Intervention Programs and co-owner of a private practice specializing in pediatric nutrition.
Her research interests focus on the use of qualitative methods for the study of food access in low income, urban neighborhoods.She is also active in professional organizations including the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association as Chair of the Continuing Education Approval Committee for Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Society for Nutrition Education where she serves on the Program Committee.
