Biography
Mark Kapczynski has a successful track record as a serial entrepreneur, chief executive and cross-industry expert. He recently founded LocationX, a physical location data network leveraging beacon technology and a mobile application ecosystem.
Mr. Kapczynski advises startup businesses as part of the LA Chamber of Commerce’s Bixel Exchange. He assists technology startups in Southern California to design their businesses, build out their teams and raise capital to fuel their growth.
Mr. Kapczynski at Arrowroot Capital, focuses on investments in the SaaS market in need of growth capital to further develop their businesses. The areas that Mr. Kapczynski addresses are Big Data & Analytics, Financial Services, and Consumer Internet.
Mr. Kapczynski additionally serves as an Executive Director of the UCLA Venture Capital Fund, helping to foster innovation connected to the university; including early stage investing, mentoring, and access to Intellectual Property from UCLA patents.
Mr. Kapczynski last served as VP of Corporate Development and Strategy for Experian's consumer businesses which include leading consumer brands: Experian, FreeCreditReport.com, and ProtectMyID. Through executing on over 8 M&A transactions, he helped to facilitate Experian’s under-lying growth and profitability.
Prior to that, he was founder and CEO of MESoft, a media and entertainment software company, for which Kapczynski raised two rounds of seed and venture capital funding exceeding $8MM.
From 1995 to 2002, Kapczynski worked at Microsoft Corporation as their Director of Worldwide Media & Entertainment Solutions Group. During that time, he worked with numerous digital media and internet start-ups such as Homestore (now Move.com), Movielink, and MeTV.
Mark Kapczynski got his first taste at being an entrepreneur in 1993 when he founded Digital Genesis—a pioneer in the internet/e-commerce space—which was sold to publicly-traded Netgateway, Inc. (NGWY, now IIG) three years later.
