Biography / Biographie

Dr. Zayna Khayat is senior advisor in health system innovation at MaRS Discovery District, a global innovation hub in Toronto helping reimagine the futures of health, energy, work & learning and commerce. In 2017 she is on secondment from MaRS to the REshape Health Innovation Center at Radboud university medical center in Nijmegen, Netherlands. Zayna’s mission is to help healthcare systems adopt health innovations that improve public health, improve health system performance, and also drive the new health economy. Dr. Khayat is also adjunct professor in health sector strategy at the Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto. She is also Faculty with Singularity University. Zayna was previously director of development at the International Centre for Health Innovation at the Ivey School of Business at Western University. Prior to this, she had an 11-year career in strategy consulting in the global health and life sciences sector, first with the Boston Consulting Group’s Toronto office from 2001 to 2010, and then as an associate principal with SECOR/KPMG.  She holds a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children, with a focus on insulin action and diabetes. Zayna lives in Toronto with her husband and three children.
