Holiday Shopping: Dollars & Sense

The holiday shopping season kicked off with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and retailers have been hard at work trying to attract customers with deep discounts and great deals on everything from televisions and clothes to appliances and gaming systems. Consumers are expected to spend an average of $1,007 this year on holiday gifts and decorations, according to National Retail Foundation.

What are the hottest gift trends this year? Where can you get the best deals? And what’s Christmas creep? Marketing professors Anne Hamby, Barry Berman, and Anil Mathur from the Zarb School of Business can provide expert commentary on these questions and more -- from explaining how retailers attach emotion to products to increase value to how brick and mortar stores are faring against fierce online competition. They’ll share how consumers can enjoy the holidays without breaking the bank.
