Special report shows scary news about America’s supposed safe and friendly skies

It’s alarming to say the least. A CBS NEWs special report revealed that aviation mechanics are alleging they are being pressure to ‘look the other way’ when they see potential safety problems on airplanes.

The link to the report is attached and is well-worth watching to appreciate the context and concern of the complaints being lodged.

Now if these claims are true, it’s a startling trend.

·      Is this all a matter of cutting costs as margins in the industry continue           to shrink?

·      Does this have anything to do with the professional pilot shortage?

·      What are the consequences for airlines, insurers and the industry?

·      Is there any recourse the government can take against these actions?

·      Can mechanics push back or grieve these requests?

·      And are these requests illegal and if so – what are the charges that                 could be laid?

There are a lot of questions to be answered and that’s where the experts from Farmingdale State College can help.
