Azure Darby works in community mental health settings with at-risk youth and families and serves marginalized groups with group therapy.


AZURE DARBY has been an adjunct lecturer at the Virtual Academic Center since 2013. She taught both of the classes in the HBSE sequence (SOWK 503 and 505) before they were merged into one course. She has also taught Social Work Practice with Individuals and currently teaches Social Work Practice with Transitional Youth.

After receiving a B.A. from Ohio State University in 2000, she enrolled at USC and earned her MSW in 2002.

For several years after graduating from USC, Darby worked primarily in community mental health settings with at-risk youth and families. She has worked as a clinician, wraparound facilitator and assistant program manager. She currently resides in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she is part of a group therapy practice serving members of various marginalized groups.
