Biography

Dalal is a PhD student at McGill University in Canada, currently researching aquatic ecosystem services and protected areas. Before starting her PhD she completed a Bachelors in Environmental Sciences during which she conducted research on the ways anthropogenic noise affect bird song. Following the completion of this degree she and a group of seven friends embarked on a cross-Canada canoe trip, raising awareness and funds for the conservation of watersheds in Canada. She then completed a Masters in Biology, studying the ecology of African freshwater fish. She also hosted a scientific podcast called Science Faction, which is all about unbelievable discoveries, is part of an urban beekeeping collective in Montreal, co-runs a series of R workshops, and enjoys spending time outdoors thinking about how we can better improve future conservation strategies.
