Dean McCall is a well-known catalyst in the Texas technology community and a recent transplant in Canada where he is a mentor to the top Canadian incubator Extreme Startups based in Toronto. Dean is a natural born connector, startup enthusiast and collaborative venture facilitator. He is currently CEO of Appficient Inc.; a mobile application development company based out of San Antonio, and a co-founder of a Picnamic, a photo syncing application that makes sharing photos with friends at the same events easier. Dean also currently serves as an advisor to DFJ Mercury on seed and early-stage ventures in the area of technology and innovation and is an investor in DejaSet and Epic Playground (formerly PodcastReady).
Dean currently serves as either a board member or advisor to the following organizations: South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive Conference, the Rice Alliance for Technology & Entrepreneurship, and the University of Texas – San Antonio Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Dean has previously advised or is currently advising the following privately held companies: Verelo (Acquired by Dyn), MaestroFM, ShopLocket, Cloudability, Mercury Fund, Keen IO, Appsembler, Epic Playground, Vidmaker, Conspire, Emergent One, Drifty, Ziptask, Grapevine, TechStars Cloud, and SXSW.
