Senior Lecturer of Communication Studies


Susan received a BSC from Ohio University in Interpersonal Communication, a master’s degree from California State University, Northridge in communication theory and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. from Arizona State University in interpersonal & family communication.

Her teaching background over the past 30 years includes experience in the University, Community College, and Vocational College classroom. The courses she has instructed include: Interpersonal Communication, Family Communication, Communication Process, Nonverbal Communication, Small Group Process, Public Speaking, Interviewing, Psychology, Sociology, Ethics, Composition I, Composition II, and Professional Development. Prior to joining the ranks of college instructors, she spent nine years in the private sector, primarily as a corporate trainer and consumer marketing coordinator for Wells Fargo Bank.

Susan is dedicated to the notion of incorporating opportunities for her students to manifest “the service of faith and the promotion of justice” in alignment with the LMU mission. In her course implementation she designs assignments and projects that present students with an “opening” to explore the notion of service leadership and execution as they engage in the achievement of various course learning outcomes.
