Physiatry is the branch of medicine that focuses on rehabilitating people with pain, illness or injuries related to musculoskeletal, neurological or cardio respiratory function. The sports medicine angle initially hooked Dr. Gaetan Tardif, physiatrist-in-chief at the Toronto Rehabilitation Centre and professor of medicine at the University of Toronto, to the field.
