Biography
Jenebah Lewis is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience in direct clinical practice, program development, supervision, and training. She began her career working in community mental health in Los Angeles, providing clinical services to adults in underserved communities experiencing mild to severe mental illness. While serving as a mental health practitioner in the field, she supervised an interdisciplinary team of therapists, case managers, nurses, and peer providers, in addition to participating in research that aimed to improve mental health care services and outcomes. Lewis continued her work with the Care Connections Program and Whole Person Care within the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. She utilized her experience working in community mental health to help with program development focused on patients with complex care needs. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, Lewis helped to integrate psychosocial and behavioral health services in primary care clinics to patients diagnosed with chronic health conditions using a community health worker model. She provided training, supervision, and support for community health workers who were providing patient navigation, case management, and health education to patients across 6 patient-centered medical homes in Los Angeles County. Lewis is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Adult Mental Health and Wellness Department. She teaches integrative seminar courses and serves as a liaison for field education. She also serves as a co-advisor for the Unchained Scholars Student Caucus.
