Rev. Jim Burklo, associate dean of religious life at USC, is part of the adjunct faculty in public policy. He is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor and author of five published books on progressive Christianity and interfaith engagement. His weekly blog, Musings, is read by progressive Christians around the world.
He has served as a church pastor, a campus chaplain at Stanford University, and a community organizer and nonprofit agency director. He also worked as lead organizer and later executive director of the Urban Ministry of Palo Alto, now part of InnVision Shelter Network, an agency that serves the homeless and low-income population in the Mid-Peninsula area south of San Francisco.
Burklo received his Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary and his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Riverside.
