Biography
Nenad “Neno” Pervan was born and raised in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He earned his BFA in Acting from the Academy of Arts, Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. After moving to the United States, he graduated with an MFA in Performance from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Following his arrival to Los Angeles, Neno started an ad-hoc theatre company, Il Dolce Theatre, which has successfully produced several plays by Southeastern European playwrights in various theatres in Los Angeles.
As an actor, Neno was honored to collaborate with Oscar winning director Mr. William Friedkin at several occasions. He also worked with great theatre directors and teachers Liviu Ciulei and Kathalin Laban, and Nobel Prize winning poet and playwright, professor Wole Soyinka. Neno appeared in several motion pictures nationally and internationally. He was honored to share the big screen with many great actors, including Academy Award winners Benicio Del Toro, and Tommy Lee Jones. He also appeared on American and European stages in numerous theatre productions, ranging from classics like Shakespeare, Chekhov, Gogol, and Ionesco to contemporaries like Frish, Carver, Ludwig, and Mastrosimone.
At Loyola Marymount University, Neno teaches acting, and voice and movement classes. He also directs, acts, and writes for theatre, film, TV, and the new media. His directing credits at LMU include titles like Genet’s "The Balcony", Miller’s "The Crucible", , Zadravec’s "Honey Brown Eyes", Boythcev’s" Colonel and the Birds", Pintauro’s "Raft of The Medusa", as well as devised theatre pieces dedicated to social justice like "Stages of AIDS" and "What We Feel About Gun Violence". Professionally, Neno directed Ionesco’s "Macbett", Dietz’s "Dracula", Agatha Christie’s "The Hollow", Mrozek’s "The Immigrants", Ibsen’s "Ghosts", and his own original musical "One Man And One Woman" in the National Theatre Of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
In 2015, Neno was awarded The Part Time Faculty Outstanding Teaching Award at the LMU. For his work as fight choreographer on Philip Ridley’s "Tender Napalm", Neno won 2013 LA Weekly Theatre Award. He is a long time member of Actors Equity Association and SAG – AFTRA.
Neno resides in Santa Monica, California with his wife and two children
