Biography

My career has been filled with various leadership roles within the social service field from correction and judicial services, mental health, secondary education, higher education, and executive education. In addition to my teaching role, I am a member of the Faculty Academic Council, along with the standing committee Faculty Development and Support. I have been the 2016 Co-Chair and 2017 Chair for the annual CPS Faculty Development Conference. Outside of academia, I enjoy the role of Principal Coach for P.A.G. Coaching & Associates working with small non-profits and individuals, both domestically and internationally.

Over the years, I have developed a view of learning as a journey. My role is the facilitator and guide along this journey. Each learner has an opportunity to join the trip while being accountable for their well-being and participating in experiences along the way. My greatest joy is motivating learners to be inquisitive and reflective as they gain new experiences, understandings, and skills along this journey. It may be no surprise that I view myself as a life long learner. Additionally, I am passionate about developing cultural awareness and building intercultural relationships, especially through first hand experiences. My lecturing experiences in Vietnam and India have assisted to shape my mental models around international learning. I valued offering professional speaking training sessions for individuals through the US Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Additionally, I have been in the role of Conference Proposal Reviewer for the Academy of Human Resource Development and the Eastern Academy of Management.

As for my formal education, I have a Doctorate in Education from George Washington University through the Executive Leadership Program with a concentration in adult learning. My Master of Liberal Arts is from Harvard University with a concentration in information management systems. Over the years, I have been an active member of the International Transformative Learning Conference sponsored through Columbia University Teacher's College. In addition to the joy of teaching, I consider myself a social scientist. My research focus has been in associated to various themes in adult learning and communications.
