Many chemical engineering students recall the feeling of being propelled into the curriculum without
the appropriate analytical skills to successfully navigate through the courses. Many schools have implemented
freshman engineering courses to serve as an introduction to the engineering field and basic engineering concepts.
While retention rates have improved significantly, there is still much more to be accomplished if we are to meet
society’s demand for engineering professionals.
