Biography

SHERRY BLAIR is an adjunct assistant professor at the Virtual Academic Center, where she teaches courses in human behavior in the social environment, and consultation, coaching and social entrepreneurship. She is a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey, a board certified professional counselor and an International Academy of Behavioral Medicine professional coach.

As CEO and founder of the Sherry Blair Institute for Inspirational Change, she aims to inspire and motivate others by applying and encouraging positive psychology, rational emotive behavior skills and the nurtured heart approach. She teaches clients how to build effective teams and use nonviolent communication to achieve results and resolve conflict. The institute offers coaching, consultation, counseling/psychotherapy and training services, including an intensive, in-community program serving children and families in New Jersey’s Wraparound System of Care. She also serves as a trainer consultant for New Jersey’s Child Welfare Training Partnership.

Blair was one of the first 300 in the world to be trained by Martin Seligman in his Vanguard Authentic Happiness Positive Psychology Coaching Program. She is also advanced-trained in evidence-based Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy/Coaching and was trained by psychologist Albert Ellis. She is an advanced trainer/certified nurtured heart specialist and has served on the Ethics and Global Summit committees for the Children's Success Foundation and the Nurtured Heart Approach.

She is a graduate of Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and women’s studies. She went on to receive her master’s degree in social work with a concentration in policy analysis and international social welfare from Columbia University. She is dually mastered in industrial and organizational psychology, supporting her vision to make change at the macro level in leadership and management.
