Tim Barry joined in 2011 as a part-time lecturer at the Virtual Academic Center. He has taught mental health electives that deal with the treatment of people with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as brief therapy models such as crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused therapy.
As a licensed clinician social worker at Kaiser Permanente in the Bay Area, Barry provides direct care to adults in psychiatric crisis and manages adult crisis service programs in Oakland and Richmond, California. In addition, he was recently given the opportunity to develop behavioral medicine programs at multiple sites across the East Bay.
Barry brings both his clinical and program development skills into the classroom. He is passionate about mentoring and supporting new social workers to help them further develop their clinical skills.
