Biography

Dr. Turner works on the history of medieval mental health and intellectual disabilities in particular and in disability studies and the history of medicine more broadly. She is currently working on a monograph about the medieval understanding of the mind and an edited volume on trauma in the Middle Ages. Her research interests also include the intersection between medieval law and medicine, alchemy, prejudice, and women of power. Dr. Turner enjoys teaching courses on all of these topics as well as on medieval warfare, castles, monsters, early religion, and gender.
