The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) advances the discovery and application of knowledge through a technology-enriched learning environment and more than 70 programs responsive to the needs of students and employers. The university is pursuing new ways to transform and broaden opportunities for learning, by promoting student success, providing greater access through multiple pathways to degree completion, and cultivating innovation and quality in teaching and research.

More than 9,600 undergraduate and graduate students study at UOIT’s two campus locations in north and downtown Oshawa. It’s spectacular buildings, some which have advanced environmental features such as green roofs and a geothermal heating and cooling system, include the Campus Library, the General Motors of Canada Automotive Centre of Excellence, the refurbished historic Regent Theatre and the former Alger Press building at 61 Charles Street.

Students also enjoy a stimulating campus life experience that includes a variety of clubs, cultural and community events, recreational opportunities and a growing varsity athletics program featuring curling, dance, golf, hockey, rowing, soccer, tennis and women’s lacrosse.

UOIT's commitment to accelerating economic growth and social innovation is realized through research collaborations with leading organizations such as Ontario Power Generation, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the Durham Regional Police Service. The university has five Canada Research Chairs with another six in development, and six industrial chairs. It has had more than 120 invention disclosures, eight licensing agreements and manages more than 20 families of patent applications, including five issued patents.
