Veterans are in demand - Let our experts help with a few quick tips about keeping them from taking leave when another employer comes calling.

America’s economy is firing on all cylinders – and with that comes the fact that high quality employees are in demand, hard to come by – and once you have them, hard to keep.

Veterans, entering the workforce are no exception. They are renowned for being hard working, on-time, eager to learn and focused on their work.

"There are nearly 18 million veterans in the U.S., about 8% of the civilian population aged 18 and over, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In October, veterans had a jobless rate of 3.0%, slightly better than the non-veteran unemployment rate of 3.2%. Clearly, many employers in the corporate world are seeing the advantages of hiring military veterans.

But they are often unsuccessful keeping those veterans on the payroll. In a recent survey, more than 80% of veterans stayed in their first post-military job less than two years and nearly half stayed in that first job for only a year or less. That kind of turnover is not only frustrating for veterans, but costly for your business when you add up recruiting, training and replacement expenses." November 11 – Benefit News
