I’ve helped people and organizations build, find, and use the best stuff on the Web for over 17 years.

As a member of the Content Strategy team at Facebook, I work with product designers, UX researchers, engineers, and product managers to make Facebook better, easier to use, and more delightful for over 1 billion people around the world… including people just like you.

I’ve spoken at international conferences on content strategy, user experience, SEO, web analytics, and Internet marketing. I’ve had the honor of presenting at conferences such as Confab, the IA Summit, ad:Tech, eTail, MozCon, SMX, the Content Strategy Forum, the National Press Club, and many more.

Previously, I built products, experiences, and communities at REI, The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, and IBM. I helped lead a team that won two Webby Awards for The Nature Conservancy in 2009. I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa where I worked on rural public health issues from 1999-2000.

Online Social Media Innovation for Fundraising

Through innovative partnerships with Facebook applications developers, I created a fundraising ecosystem for The Nature Conservancy within the Facebook apps market. This raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Conservancy while also growing the user base for popular apps and games. As of 2012, The Nature Conservancy is in the top 3 nonprofits conducting fund-raising on Facebook and has collected nearly half a million dollars. Learn more at

Web Site Performance Optimization for Agile SEO

I built a business case to drive REI's web site performance optimization work to support customer conversion as well as organic search traffic for the top 1% of our most competitive queries. Working across divisions, I helped cut's page load time by 1.5s in just a single year, saving our customers about 22 years of waiting time in aggregate. We also cut the amount of time that it took Google to crawl our pages by 50%, leading to a 100% increase in the amount of pages and data crawled.

Agile Marketing and SEO

I pioneered Agile Marketing and popularized it within the search marketing industry through a series of conference talks and events over 2011-2012. With self-organizing teams, a bias towards action, and an iterative approach, I worked with REI's Agile development teams to complete 45 projects focused on SEO and organic findability, driving millions of incremental visits and sales and vastly increasing REI's market share for non-branded keyword phrases.
