Are you covering Grocery Stores and Stock Piling?

Nikolay Osadchiy

Associate Professor of Information Systems & Operations Management ,  Emory University, Goizueta Business School

Grocery stores are stocking up to keep their costs down. The Wall Street Journal published a survey by the Associated Wholesale Grocers Incorporated of more than 3,000 grocery stores finding stores are purchasing 15% to 20% more inventory. The purchases are primarily shelf stable items. Goizueta Business School’s Nikolay Osadchiy says stockpiling is likely to increase retailers' cost, although retailers are betting that inflationary price increases will help them recoup those costs. Professor Osadchiy is available this week for interviews.
