When we look at recent Russian attacks on Ukraine, targeting civilian and residential areas, what does it about the status of their military operation?

I think very clearly it shows Ukraine’s counteroffensive has taken advantage now and Russia, and specifically President Putin realize they are losing ground and losing the war. So in order to try to turn things around, they are trying to devastate the civilian infrastructure by those attacks.
