Biography

Dr. Máire Ford joined LMU’s Psychology department in 2006. She is currently both a Professor of Psychology and Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Development.

Her research focuses on the role of the self in close relationships, with a focus on romantic relationships. Specifically, she looks at how the self shapes perceptions of events in close relationships and subsequently affects health. She has an active research lab staffed by several excellent LMU undergraduate students. Her research has been funded by the National Science Foundation.

Ford teaches a variety of courses including General Psychology, Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences, Social Psychology, Psychological and Political Science Perspectives on Peace and Conflict, a Capstone Seminar on the Psychology of Close Relationships and a First Year Seminar on Health Psychology.
