Albert Lee
Nilwall Group Inc.
Social
Biography
Mr. Lee co-founded a software startup, xkoto Inc. in 2005, raising $10 MM in venture capital. xkoto received numerous awards including the Deloitte Fast 50 Companies To Watch (2006) and Information Week Startup Of The Year (2008). The startup was acquired by Teradata Corp. (NASDAQ: TDC).
In 2010 he founded the Nilwall Group to provide strategic consulting in governance, business development, sales, and marketing to technology firms. He sits on the Advisory Board of SWI Group.
In 2012 he published the book How To Meet The Queen, which aims to entertain, exhort, and equip readers to ask better questions to get better answers. Drawing on principles from an eminent cast including Larry King, Mike Wallace, a Harvard Medical School Professor, lawyers, investigators, and even a high-profile ex-fraudster, the book is applied to real life - the art of selling, launching a startup, personal health, the job interview, crime prevention, choosing a vacation, and more. And as the title suggests, the author recounts chapter-by-chapter how close he came to meeting Queen Elizabeth II by applying the principles in the book.
He has spoken at numerous industry events including IBM’s Information on Demand, The 451 Group’s Enterprise Summit, the Canadian Investor Forum, the Next Generation Data Center, Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference, and Vancouver SQL PASS.
He earned an Honours B.Math degree from the University of Waterloo and a M.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto.

Startups - How To Get Funded & Stay Funded
Startups need funding, whether from VCs, angels, or family/friends. The product/service idea, value proposition, sales/marketing plan, product plan, financials, team makeup/staffing plan, and "wow factor" must be clear and credible. Investor hot buttons need to be hit.
Developing a cool idea is the easy part - most startups fail for lack of funding at the right time, and lack of execution.
