Biography
Annie Brett's research sits at the intersection of maritime law, environmental governance and emerging ocean industries, with a focus on how legal frameworks shape what happens beyond traditional regulatory reach. Her work has addressed topics including deep seabed mining, transboundary waters, underwater privacy, illegal fishing, shipwrecks and the governance of ocean data. She conducts field expeditions and has participated in National Geographic scientific expeditions. She has served on multiple National Academies of Science committees and worked on international ocean policy with the World Economic Forum.
