Biography
I love working at the intersection of technology and society.
Right now I’m the CTO for latakoo, changing the way people send and store video on the Internet. We're working towards an exciting consumer web application that relieves real pain points - and already have many TV newsrooms using our service for the same reasons.
Previously, I co-founded Elgg, an open source social networking platform originally designed to act as a driver for change in educational software. I was the technical driving force, and the CTO of Curverider, the company created to support it. It's still one of the most popular social platforms, used in corporations, charities and schools worldwide, and I'm incredibly proud of what we achieved.
I was also the first Geek in Residence at the Edinburgh Festivals Innovation Lab, helping all twelve Edinburgh Festivals innovate using web technology.
Before technology, writing was my first love; I've been a film reviewer, covered technology for IBM and ZDNet, and blogged for the Australia Council for the Arts. My first short story was published as part of an anthology in summer 2011.
