Biography
Benjamin Gottlieb is an Emmy Award–winning journalist based in Los Angeles, California.
He currently lectures in the journalism department at Loyola Marymount University, where he teaches courses on broadcast and multimedia reporting, audio production, podcasting, and digital design.
Previously, he spent a decade in public media, most of that time with the NPR affiliate KCRW Public Radio, where he worked as a reporter, producer, and host. His coverage ranged from immigration and business to breaking news, crime, and government accountability.
Benjamin’s work has appeared in a variety of news outlets, including The Washington Post, CNN International, The Los Angeles Times, NPR, American Public Media (APM), The Global Post, Dawn, and Public Radio International (PRI), among many others.
Most recently, he led several organic video and podcast initiatives at Shopify.
He is an avid traveler, having visited more than 40 countries for both work and pleasure. He has earned multiple grants for his international reporting, including support from the Knight Foundation to cover religion in Northern India. In 2017, he was named a Korea Fellow with the East-West Center.
