Biography
Betsy Candler received her J.D. from the University of Minnesota School of Law where she was a member of the Journal of Law and Inequality. She has been a mediator since 2012, with a practice that focuses on community mediations, restorative justice, and organizational facilitation. Prior to becoming a mediator, she worked for over a decade in criminal defense. Ms. Candler has litigated felonies and misdemeanors, conducting numerous jury trials in California and Georgia. For five years, she represented individuals sentenced to death in California in state post-conviction proceedings. She serves on the Board of Directors of SEEDS Community Resolution Center and the Albany Berkeley Girls Softball League. Ms. Candler taught constitutional law and mediation at Berkeley Law, where she also directed the LL.M. Legal Research and Writing Program.
