
Bohdan W. Oppenheim
Professor Emeritus of Healthcare Systems Engineering Loyola Marymount University
Biography
At LMU, Dr. Oppenheim most recently served as Founder and Director of the Healthcare Systems Engineering program from 2013 - 2022. In this role, he created the curriculum and established affiliations with nearly every major healthcare organization in the greater Los Angeles area, hiring experts from Kaiser Permanente, UCLA Health, Stanford, VA, Providence, and other organizations. He advised on over 100 major capstone projects with these and other organizations.
Dr. Oppenheim's most recent appointment is Adjunct Professor of Healthcare at the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine. In this role he will lecture medical students on healthcare systems.
Prior to these roles, Dr. Oppenheim served as Professor of Systems Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Graduate Director of Mechanical Engineering at LMU.
The recipient of numerous awards for teaching, research, publication, and service, Dr. Oppenheim also received nearly $2M in external grants during his tenure at LMU
