Biography

Dr. Bruce Gehrig is the Joe W. Kimmel Distinguished Professor of Construction Management and Director of the Kimmel School of Construction Management at Western Carolina University. Prior to his appointment at Western Carolina, Dr. Gehrig was a 2017 Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor at the Namibia University of Science and Technology in Windhoek, Namibia and served for 16 years on the faculty at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Before joining academia, he worked for 15 years as a civil engineer and construction manager in the public, private, and international sectors.

America’s Home Place has contributed more than $50,000 to Western Carolina University over the past five years, providing scholarship assistance to construction management students, additional programmatic support for faculty and administrators, and funding for Construction Management Club activities and educational opportunities, in addition to providing as many as four paid internships annually to WCU construction management students.
