Biography

Bruce E. Carter, Sr., director of diversity and inclusion at Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I., provides unique perspective and broad learnings from his 30+ years of guiding organizations. His deep experience has informed development of best practices to build and strengthen diversity and inclusion, as well as human resources executive knowledge of developing recruiting, retainment and succession plans (his approaches were recognized by Human Resources Executive).

Bruce is a long-time advocate of incorporating diversity and inclusion practices at the national and state levels. Through his advocacy, he has cultivated a strong voice educating leaders and workplaces on the benefits of strategies and programs supporting greater diversity. He has served on the boards of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Dallas and the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. He is involved in several professional organizations, including the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources (NAAAHR) and the National Black MBA Association.

Bruce has developed long-term strategies for leadership teams surrounding diversity and inclusion. Those approaches include forging strong partnerships with diverse organizations, speaking to Church Mutual’s own African American Pastors Advisory Group for insights and advice and strengthening diversity among recruiting and retaining efforts.

Bruce received his bachelor’s degree in African American studies and history and a master’s degree in industrial relations from the University of Minnesota.
