In this study, we developed and initially validated a Stress Indicators Scale using five samples of teachers, parents, and students. We also identified the five best items from the scale that could inform development of a brief version of the scale for broader applications in comprehensive universal screening.

Although the COVID-19 Pandemic began in 2020, it continues to exert a negative impact on the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic wellbeing of many children and youth across the globe and throughout Europe. To address these significant needs, researchers, educators, and policymakers have continued to stress the importance of developing instructional and intervention programs that target children’s social and emotional learning and emotional behavior concerns.

The current study examined the measurement invariance of translated versions of a brief, multi-informant measure of SEL skills developed in the US with data from six European countries: Croatia, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and Romania.
