Biography
Craig is the Senior Content Strategist of Barefoot Proximity, a Cincinnati-based digital agency in the BBDO/Proximity network. He is an award-winning journalist, writer, editor and author of two travel-themed memoires. His first book, “Chasing Oliver Hazard Perry” (Clerisy, 2010) chronicled his journeys to explore the history of the War of 1812 in and around the Great Lakes and was named the Best Non-Fiction book of 2010 by the Great Lakes Booksellers Association. Described by New York Times Review of Books contributor and former Esquire fiction editor Will Blythe as “exactly what American travel writing needs,” his next book, “And Now We Shall Do Manly Things” (HarperCollins 2012) follows his travels from the deep Midwest to Coastal Maine as he spends a year learning to hunt in order to better relate to the men of his large, Midwestern family.
Craig began his career as a newspaper reporter, covering government at all levels and writing feature stories for daily newspapers in Ohio, Virginia and the District of Columbia. He started his own magazine, a lifestyle publication in Southwest Ohio, and was the editor of Cincinnati Gentlemen, Cincinnati Profile and Housetrends magazines. He has been the editor-in-chief of ManoftheHouse.com, CoachHub.com, WhyMenMatter.com and contributor to MensHealth.com. His work has been featured in The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, Parenting Magazine, on NPR, Fox News and CNN. In July, 2011, he was profiled in Chief Content Officer Magazine for his work developing editorial content for consumer package goods brands.
Craig is strong advocate of the power of content and passionate about creating content solutions for brands and media outlets. He firmly believes that one need not go far to have an adventure and that you don’t need to leave your home town to live like a traveler.

Just Go
In my family, it was better to do than to have. It was this spirit that lead me to my first two books. For one, I explored the history of the place where I grew up in the footsteps of American heroes and personal idols. In the second, a cherished family past-time which I learned to appreciate and love. In both, I learned that the valuable things in life aren't possessions, but experiences and the only thing separating people from having them is the first step out the door.
