Biography

Dr. Damon D. Hines is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Loyola Marymount University. A thespian, scholar, and activist, Dr. Hines brings a unique blend of academic expertise and professional experience to his teaching and research. His scholarly interests center on relational communication, intercultural communication, and performance studies.

An alumnus of Loyola Marymount University, Dr. Hines earned his B.A. in Communication Studies before completing an M.A. in Communication Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. He went on to earn his Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Southern California.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Hines has enjoyed a distinguished career as a professional actor spanning more than 40 years. His film credits include Lethal Weapon 1–4, Scrooged, What’s Love Got to Do with It, and The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.

At LMU, Dr. Hines is committed to fostering inclusive learning environments that emphasize the power of communication as a tool for connection, cultural understanding, and social change.
