Biography

Daneka Souberbielle is the VP of Campus & Community Initiatives & Chief Inclusion Officer at Southern Utah University. Souberbielle implements diversity and equity opportunities across all aspects on campus and functions as a subject matter expert on institutional diversity and inclusion as it relates to governance, administrative policies, and federal and state regulations.

Souberbielle has over 15 years of progressive experience leading people, processes and higher education initiatives for inclusive recruiting, diversity education, cultural competency programming, strategic planning and student support evidenced by the successful administration of student programs serving more than 3,000 diverse students.

Recognized for collaborative leadership style, approachability, and keen ability to effectively translate complex concepts into individualized action plans. She is a strength-focused educator successful in system-building and dedicated to the holistic, learner-centered approach to human and organizational development.

Souberbielle earned a bachelor of arts in psychology at University of Michigan and a master of science in sociology at Brigham Young University.

"This award is an important way to put investment behind our goal of serving our local and surrounding Indigenous community who we know face barriers to start and to finish their education," Daneka Souberbielle, SUU chief diversity officer, said in a press release. "Even though this may not address all of the financial barriers our Native American students face, it's a critical starting point for us to be intentional about our commitment to support current and potential Indigenous students."
