Biography
Dave builds and inspires communities. He brings a broad range of expertise—combining technology, digital presence, and the tools that help drive communities to action. Dave is an expert at applying principles that have been successfully used in the open source movement to bring people together and help them get great things done.
Before joining New Kind, Dave was a Product Manager at Mozilla, defining the features, standards, and direction of the open web.
Dave was an early employee at Red Hat, where he was the Director of the Advanced Development Labs and then the Manager of Operating System Development. After Red Hat, Dave contributed to General Wesley Clark’s presidential bid, helping to organize his campaign’s digital presence, as well as developing open source campaign and election software.
Dave also worked at Intrahealth International, managing a project to develop open source applications and programs to support healthcare workers in Africa. Dave co-founded the Open Initiative, a program that worked with major recording artists, open source software leaders, educational institutions, and other NGOs to improve health care and benefit health workers throughout Africa.
Dave studied music, English literature, and ethnic studies at East Carolina University. He was a professional musician before hanging up his guitar to pursue a career in technology.
