Since my arrival at LMU in 2004, I have maintained a variety of teaching and research interests in psychology. For instance, what is the impact of HIV or of aging on cognitive functioning? What was the role of psychologists in the eugenics movement? Why do some researchers investigate the possibility of ESP? These and other questions I address through the crucial perspective of psychological science. I conduct research with colleagues from the psychology department as well as with collaborators from a variety of institutions such as Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. I also have a laboratory here at LMU, and I routinely involve students in my research. My research informs my teaching, and my teaching informs my research.
