Biography

As a development and stewardship professional I have worked with organizations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. In 2006 I traveled to mainland China with a delegation of fundraising professionals (One of only 12 from the US).

I am a recognized authority in development, Catholic stewardship and fundraising programs; a faith mentor whose weekly blog on spirituality in daily life is read worldwide; as well as an experienced leader in building support for faith-based organizations.

As the past Stewardship Director at St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, Calif., I was part of a capital campaign team raising one of the largest goals in Catholic parish philanthropy history: $27,000,000. Working at St. Monica, one of three mega-parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, the country's largest, required coordinating development and stewardship programs for more than 16,000 parishioners, 14,000 people in outreach programs and mission associations in Dandora, Nairobi, Kenya; and Tijuana, Mexico. St. Monica also has an elementary school and high school with a combined 900 students and over 7000 alumni.

I have successfully led a variety of capital development projects, developing programs for planned giving, major gifts, annual campaigns, event marketing as well as volunteer recruitment, training and coordination.

In 2006, I was a member of the first delegation of fundraising professionals, one of only 12 selected from throughout the United States, to serve on a panel to share fundraising expertise in China.

Being More Than Just Another Non-Profit

National Association of YMCA Development Officers Annual Conference - Charlotte, NC

We can build a better world by accepting, nurturing, and sharing a profound responsibility for the public good. This is the heart of philanthropy. Organizations, which practice stewardship succeed by choosing service over self interest. This change in perception can transform an organization in the areas of development, volunteer recruitment, fundraising, customer service and management.
