Biography
Diana is a multidisciplinary theatre artist and scholar whose research examines how photographs and institutional documents stage bodies for recognition, verification, and judgment. Drawing on dramaturgy and performance studies, she explores how documents frame encounters among bodies, images, institutions, and spectators, producing legibility as a form of performance. Through the lives, images, and stories of Iranian women, she asks what happens when these documentary performances fail and bodies are made to carry the burden of proving who they are.
Diana received the American Society for Theatre Research’s Helen Krich Chinoy Dissertation Fellowship in 2024. She is a PhD candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies at UCI and holds an MFA in Dramaturgy from Columbia University, as well as a BFA and an MA from Tehran University of Art. Her credits include directing "Romeo and Juliet" at Two River Theater, serving as Dramaturg Consultant for the Broadway production of "English", and working as production dramaturg for "English" at Alliance Theatre.
