Biography

DOUG BAUM began his dance training in Maryland at a local studio before he graduated from the Baltimore School for the Arts in 2006. In 2010, Doug received his B.F.A. from Fordham University in collaboration with The Ailey School, where he apprenticed with Ailey II and had the opportunity to work with world renowned artists/mentors. Since graduating, he has professional danced with Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Les Ballets Jazz, Rock the Ballet, Compagnie Flak, Company XIV and lastly LA Dance Project. Doug is now an adjunct lecturer at the USC Glorya Kaufman School of Dance since 2023 as well as Chapman University where he recently choreographed for their Fall Faculty dance concert at the Musco Center for the Arts.

Throughout his career, he has taught for numerous dance institutions including The Joffrey Ballet School, Broadway Dance Center, Jacob’s Pillow, The Colburn School, OCSA, Millenium Dance Complex, Mather Dance Company, Collegiate Arts Prep, and BSA. In addition, he is also one the judges for Ballet Championships of America. As a choreographer, Doug has created several different works for the Joffrey Summer intensives under the direction of Josie Walsh, BSA and many other programs in the pursuit of discovering, refining and exploring his artistic voice as he works with dancers & artists from all walks of life.
