Biography
Dr. Theodore L. Schreiber was named President of Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Cardiovascular Institute in 2009. Prior to this, he was Vice President of DMC Cardiovascular Development. He is Specialist-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at DMC, Director of Cardio Team One, a 24/7/365 cardiac care initiative he designed and implemented in 2008, Division Chief of Clinical Cardiology and Director of the interventional cardiology fellowship program at DMC Harper University Hospital.
One of the first physicians in the United States to offer a minimally invasive treatment option for the prevention of stroke in patients who have carotid artery disease and has performed over 20,000 coronary interventions in his lifetime, Dr. Schreiber is the only interventional cardiologist in Michigan named among the top 1% nationally in his field, according to the latest U.S. News Media & World Report “Top Doc” list.
Dr. Schreiber is involved in ongoing research in carotid artery stenting, has been the principal or co-principal investigator on numerous cardiovascular research studies and has written dozens of book chapters, articles and abstracts on interventional cardiology.
He has already made two presentations to the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Schreiber has authored a peer-reviewed article for the medical journal, Biochemical Pharmacology.
Dr. Schreiber earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City and completed a residency at the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center. He later completed fellowships in cardiology, coronary care, interventional cardiology and peripheral intervention. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.
