Biography
A talented and charismatic entrepreneur, Egypt Lawson is the President of Hairline Illusions, a New York City-based wig manufacturer. Egypt Lawson brings over 20 years of experience in custom hair styling and wig creation to her position and is widely respected for her excellent customer service and the unparalleled quality of her products.
Since co-founding the company with her husband Kenyatta Lawson in 2006, Egypt Lawson has driven Hairline Illusions toward an impressive level of success. One reason is the phenomenally high level of precision and care that Egypt Lawson invests into each one of her custom designs. Egypt Lawson specializes in making hair alternatives that are invisible to the eye and spends as much as 160 hours developing her customized products. In fact, so much skill is evident in each Egypt Lawson creation that one product of Hairline Illusions has even been dubbed the “Rolls-Royce of Wigs.”
Outside of Hairline Illusions, Egypt Lawson formulates skin and haircare products and is also very active in the non-profit field. Despite the fact that there are numerous medical causes for hair loss (including chemotherapy cancer treatment, Alopecia Areata, etc.), many insurance companies will frequently not cover the high cost of a realistic looking wig. Kenyatta and Egypt Lawson set out to solve this problem by creating Hair That Cares, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides grants to those unable to afford customized hair alternatives.
Egypt Lawson’s relentless entrepreneurialism has earned her numerous distinctions. In addition to being a Project Enterprise Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2004 and 2007, Egypt Lawson has appeared on CNN and been featured at numerous international trade shows, such as the International Beauty Show and the HBA Global Expo.
