Dr. Bolar is an expert in mental health, substance use prevention and treatment, and cultural diversity.


Dr. Eleanor Bolar provides mentoring relationships and aspires to be authentic, supportive, engaging and informative. She creates a learning environment for inquiry, innovation, and an exchange of ideas which embraces a platform for individuality and cultural diversity.
Dr. Bolar has an extensive background in administration. She worked for the Upward Bound college preparatory program for over 30 years. She trained as an Ohio Southwest “Train-the trainer.” She worked with severe mentally ill, forensic clients at the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, Summit Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. She was a contract therapist with Lighthouse Youth & Family Services. Served as an instructor and counseling team member for Tryed Stone New Beginning Church. She maintains a contract position as a private practitioner. Dr. Bolar is an executive director and ministerial lecturer at a local congregation. She is employed with the Dayton VA Medical Center.

Her educational background includes a Master of Social Work (MSW) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Educational Studies from the University of Cincinnati.

Her doctoral dissertation was on African American Clergy: Fostering Supportive Relationships with Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse. She has a preparing future faculty certificate from the University of Cincinnati Graduate School. Dr. Bolar is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor. She maintains a diplomate credential with the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, watching western films and physical fitness.
