Eric Chiang has published 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals. In 2009, he was selected by students as the Distinguished Teacher of the Year, the highest teaching honor at Florida Atlantic University.

2019 A substantial literature exists on the effects of military expenditures on economic growth, yet no study has analyzed the effects of military occupation other than in anecdotal cases. This paper uses a panel of 214 countries from 1950 to 2013 to study how economic growth is impacted by different forms of military occupation.

2017 Using country panel data from 2004 to 2012, we empirically analyze the effect of fiscal decentralization on the likelihood of business-friendly environments. Our results show that fiscal decentralization improves the business environment and the effect is strongest among lower-income countries.
