Gary Einoth is an artist, designer, and DJ in Manhattan, New York. Gary has been passionate about art all his life and used his passions to start his own design company, PiJ PoJ Design. 

With PiJ PoJ Design, Gary Einloth has had great success creating a wide variety of unique and artistic products. Einloth custom-fabricated and manufactures his own jewelry, lighting, furniture, and other products with his unique designs. Each of his designs are inspired by his paintings and sculptures he has created in the past. 

Before creating his successful business Gary Einloth earned his degree in Industrial Design from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

During his education and throughout his professional career, Gary Einloth was inspired by a number of great artists including:

"Reaction" Sand Casted Stool

The "Reaction Stool" was made by using a custom tool to prod into sand. The tool was made in such a way that it could produce undercuts by simply reducing its tension. The direction of the undercut can be controlled by aiming the slanted end of the tool. Each of the holes created by the tool were spaced out about 2 inches apart. Each new hole that was created effected the holes previously made. This chain reaction and collapsing of sand creates unique and fascinating results.  Once all of the holes were made, plaster was poured into them and a positive of the holes was made.

Hours away?...
But I can't bare tell you stay.
Confusion inside, with no release.
If I told you to stay, I would be at peace.

This painting, My outlet, My only way to cope.

This collection tells the story of the love of my life moving away. I was battling with being utterly confused, yet hopeful at the same time. I always want the best for her and knew that this was too good of an opportunity for her to pass up. It was going to be so different not spending everyday by her side. I just couldn't tell her to stay, but it was eating me up inside.

This video depicts my process, "Art Inspired Design". This process translates art into functional design :

It shows how I expressed my emotions and true life story: first through painting, then sculpture and lastly into a functional piece of furniture. 

Everything was derived directly from the painting.


I first began by intuitively painting how I felt at the time:
-The lighter colors and tedious brush strokes represented the hope (that maybe she would stay)
-The darker colors and more aggressive brush strokes represented the confusion (I didn't want to tell her what to do and was holding it all in)

I next translated the painting into a sculpture to see how it would look as a 3D object; bringing out the implied forms and mapping out the colors.

From there, I abstracted and condensed the sculpture further by taking the main lines that made up the sculpture and making a wire sculpture from them.

Next, I began to experiment with draping materials over this wire sculpture and soon realized it could function as a chair.

The wire sculpture was then was scaled up and became the mold for my chair. 

The colors were laser cut from colored acrylic and mapped out on a flat, clear sheet of 6 ft. x 10 ft. acrylic. They were then hand attached one at a time.

The colors were mapped out to represent exactly what they did in the painting. 
-The lighter colors (pinks,yellows,and greens) were mapped out to be where the two of us were sitting together in the chair (representing the hope).
-The darker colors (blues,purples,and reds) were mapped out to be the surrounding, swirling space around us (representing the confusion surrounding us)

The chair is a love seat and was created in such a way that it brings the two of us together.

The "Reflection Collection" tells the story of someone struggling to be something they're not. Every time he looks in the mirror he sees what he wants to be, rather than what he is. You are what you are; just be yourself! At PIJ POJ DESIGN, we feel that you should be yourself and so should lights! A light is just a light. We are not going to cover it with a shade and hide its inner beauty. Rather, we showcased its lovely flickering filament and gorgeous iconic shape.

Translating Art into Functional Design

"Africo" Collectivo

This video consists of over 400 individual photos that have been edited and hand drawn on!

The "Africo" Collectivo was created to show the bare essence of the two jungle animals. The elephant and giraffe are complete opposites; the elephant sitting short and fat, while the giraffe reigns tall and skinny. The two were portrayed to show their strengths and beauty. 

When in use, the lamps portray the very same essence as the animals do in nature. The giraffe towers over the rest of the jungle and acts almost as a watch guard. While, the elephant stays low to the ground with a graceful, get powerful stance.
