Gene Hoyt is a computer information systems instructor in the Department of Informations Systems and Operations Management at Florida Gulf Coast University. Hoyt is currently developing a new mobile application focused on university safety. Serving for three years, he worked in telecommunications as a specialist for the U.S. Army. Hoyt also retired as a customs inspector for the federal government with emphasis on passenger analysis.

2019 Regardless of how big or small the business, technological advancements, such as building an efficient website, should be of great concern for business owners due to the technological dominance in the current society. Web design describes the process of creating a website, and embodies many different aspects such as webpage layout, content production, and graphic design. However, there are many obstacles that small business owners face when developing their websites, such as not having enough time, lacking technical skills, or difficulties with the content itself. This study tries to apply gamification design in the website education area to support and help small business owners in business web development. Additionally, Gamification describes the process of using game elements in non-game settings to engage the audience. Thus, a website development guideline is proposed in a game style model. The benefit of using the Gamification Theory in business is that it will help keep the audience engaged, and will make the process of development feasible, engaging, and less time consuming. This study will support business owners both short term as well as long term.

2018 With the increasing popularity of online games, more and more studies have been undertaken to identify key factors impacting users’ acceptance of online games. However, even game designers noticed most of these key factors a long time ago, and the average life cycle of a game is still very low. This study is trying to research the online game from game developers’ perspectives. One of the main strategies to extend the game life cycle is to stimulate game players’ impulse purchases in the game. This study evaluates the effects of temptation on game players’ unplanned purchases. We propose that temptations in the online games associated with players’ flow experiences, and further influence their intentions of impulse purchases.

2017 The area of online gaming has been widely researched with one glaring omission, the role of national culture in explaining online game playing differences across countries. The purpose of this study is to examine how and why national culture affects online game playing and how to extend online game playing time from a culture perspective. The findings would be beneficial in the theoretical understanding of the online game playing behavior.
