Biography
In continuous pursuit of his professional mission to turn the mobile device into a Personal Commerce Assistant, Georg has collected over 10 years of experience in mobile payments, both in the mobile telecommunications and the payments sectors.
Building on this background Georg now works with start-ups, industry forums and big players to widen the approach and drive the mission forward through his consultancy ModPay.Co.
Previously Georg was part of Luup's Executive Team and as VP Products headed up work that (1) enables expatriates to send money to their families from their mobile devices in seconds instead of queuing for hours, (2) delivers access to financial services to people in rural communities, connecting them to the world of commerce, (3) allows traders to handle invoices and payments for deliveries from their mobile devices, thus removing the risks and costs associated with having to carry & handle cash. Georg was also trusted with strategy development, the identification and development of strategic partnerships, and company spokesperson for the media and analyst community.
Prior to joining Luup, Georg was a Senior Product Manager at MasterCard Worldwide. During this time Georg led the product development and deployment of the Mobile MoneySend Service in the United States. Georg also created and ran MasterCard’s Mobile Partner Programme, recruiting over 100 partners.
Before that, Georg was Manager, Global Projects at Minick UK Ltd., in charge of developing and launching global brand’s mobile marketing campaigns and consulted tier one clients on mobile marketing and mobile commerce.
Georg also held positions with T-Mobile International in the Mobile Payment Solutions business unit. His achievements include the acquisition of a banking license, extension of mobile payments services to prepaid account holders, and the rollout of a mobile wallet solution in several European countries.
