Dr. George Gekas is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the School of Accounting and Finance of Ryerson University in Toronto. Prior to his appointment to Ryerson, Dr. Gekas taught for over 25 years in the discipline of Business Administration at several universities in Canada, USA, and Europe. His academic career includes appointments with the University of College of Cape Breton, Algoma University College, Ryerson University, University of Maryland, American College of Greece (Deree) and the University of Western Ontario.
George Gekas holds an honours B.A. degree in Economics from the Economic University of Athens, a Masters in Economics degree from Lakehead University, Bachelor of Commerce and MBA degrees from the University of Windsor, a PhD from Hull University in England, and the CPA and FCPA designations.
Dr. Gekas’ research program includes several projects, and a number of articles in a wide variety of business topics, textbooks teaching aids and manuals. His expertise covers the entire financial management spectrum including corporate governance, and strategic management. Dr. Gekas is considered an expert in organizational efficiency, productivity, and corporate performance. Professor Gekas has been involved in a number of organizations in a variety of capacities and he is fully immersed in the issues facing post-secondary education.
